3.5.5 - De-Humidification

Objective: To understand the use of de-humidification as a method of controlling environmental conditions during preparation and coating activities.

  • Relative humidity (A measure of the amount of moisture in the air compared to the maximum amount possible) is expressed as the amount of moisture in the air (The mixture of gases that forms the earth's atmosphere) compared to the maximum amount possible.
  • Relative humidity (A measure of the amount of moisture in the air compared to the maximum amount possible) has a major bearing on surface preparation and coating application.
  • If we had very little relative humidity (A measure of the amount of moisture in the air compared to the maximum amount possible) we would have little corrosion ((general term) Oxidation of a metal in the presence of water by electrolytic process.
    )
    .
  • Relative humidity (A measure of the amount of moisture in the air compared to the maximum amount possible) is expressed as 1-100%.
