11.3.5 - ASTM Miscellaneous Standards

Objective

The objective of this training unit is to give a brief introduction to the various ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Standards used in the protective coatings (Paint - substance used for protection of surfaces ie steel from corrosion.) industry.

The list is not exhaustive as there are other coating Standards within the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) range.

The Standards are generally specified within the painting specification for specific contracts.
