ICorr Level 3 Coating Inspector

ICorr Level 3 training, delivered by Corrodere, consist of 100% flexible online core and specialist modules that must be completed by passing a multiple choice test with 100% pass mark. A mandatory one day level 3 practical and theoretical workshop will be delivered prior to assessment. A one day practical and theoretical assessment must then be attended and passed with 70% to achieve the ICorr 3 certificate. Assessment centres are in Farnham and Newcastle, however our assessors will conduct assessments at company premises where student numbers reach 8 or more.

Pre-Requisite: ICorr level 2 Certificate and 3 years coating inspection experience

Level 3 personnel are qualified to:

  • Direct any inspection or test operation for which they are certified;
  • Assume full responsibility for an inspection or test facility and staff;
  • Establish and/or validate work instructions or procedures;
  • Interpret normative documents;
  • Designate the extent of inspection and the particular test methods and procedures to be used.

Level 3 personnel have demonstrated:

  • Competence to interpret and evaluate inspection or test results in terms of existing normative documents;
  • Possession of a scope and level of knowledge sufficient to enable the individual to select inspection methods and tests, and to assist in the establishment of inspection and test criteria where none are otherwise available;
  • A general familiarity with coating materials, fabrics and structures protected by painting and coating, application methods and associated areas;
  • The ability to guide personnel below Level 3.

Section 10.2.5 of NORSOK M-501 states: Personnel carrying out inspection or verification shall be qualified in accordance with Norwegian Standard NS 476 Inspector Level III (FROSIO Level III), certified as NACE Coating Inspector Level III
or ICorr Inspector Level III.
