Brendan Fitzsimons, Andrew Deere and Lucy Pavia recently visited the SSPC team at their Head Quarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The meeting was primarily to confirm the strategic alliance between the two organisations to plan the expansion of SSPC Train the Painter globally. Mr Bill Worms, SSPC Executive Director, welcomed the delegation from the UK and led the working groups to agree on multiple action plans for the next 12 months.

Agenda subjects for 2018-19 included the technical review and launch of SSPC Train the Inspector Pipeline and Fireproofing coating inspector programmes. Following a discussion regarding the hot topic of certification within the application industry, the SSPC C6, C7 & C12 certification will now be available through Train the Painter for applicators, abrasive blasters and paint sprayers. The industry is demanding measurability and this is seen as a major step forward in aligning comprehensive training with a globally acknowledged certification scheme.

It was of course not all work and no play, strong friendships were firmly cemented over a small glass or two in the evening.

For further details of the SSPC Certification Scheme, contact Lucy Pavia on 01252 732223.
