We are pleased to announce the release of our thin film intumescent applicator course. The course is available throughout our network of affiliate training provider and is suitable for both new and experienced applicators of intumescent coatings. There has never been any formal, accredited training for intumescent applicators specifically aimed at the industry. The Building Research Establishment (BRE) and the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) were both very active in the development of the course to ensure that it met the demands of not only the students but also current and future legislation.
There are two routes to certification depending on the students previous training.
- Students that hold a SSPC Train the painter Bronze, Silver or Gold card can undertake the one day theoretical and practical course.
- Students who do not hold an SSPC Train the painter Qualification undertake the three day course. The additional training days cover a number of important key skills in surface preparation and application plus in depth site health and safety requirements set out by CSCS.
Upon successful completion of the training the student will receive a 5 year wallet card which is a blue skilled worker partner card with CSCS.
The course provides much needed training where none existed before in the application of intumescent coatings that potentially save lives in public buildings.
Both the BRE and ASFP are pleased to work with us on delivering the key skills needed by applicators in this very important market sector.
