Affiliate Training Provider Spotlight: RAMP Training Group
Following the recent announcement of RAMP Training Group becoming an Affiliate Training Provider of the Train the painter programme we spoke to John Kruse (Director at RAMP Training Group) about the impact of this and their plans to deliver the programme.
With over 15 years’ experience in the protective coatings industry – alongside a strong background in rope access training – RAMP is setting a standard for coatings education and practical skills development.
Recognising the growing need for workers to transition from offshore to onshore roles, RAMP has developed specialist combined training packages that bring together rope access, surface preparation, and paint application training.
Their new training packages ensure that Applicators not only know how to climb safely but also how to prepare and paint at height — a critical skill in this industry.
RAMP has already successfully completed several Train the painter courses, providing bronze-level qualifications and building a strong foundation for future course expansion.
Why did you choose to become an Affiliate Training Provider for Train the painter?
“After spending over 15 years in the industrial coatings industry and providing rope access training over the last few years, I was ready to step in to provide training to help wannabe and experienced painters learn more about this industry that isn’t given the credit it deserves.
When deciding what course to deliver I looked for the programme that provided the most bang for the buck, the course that leaves delegates with the feeling that they know what to do once they arrive on site, and Train the painter provided that requirement. Other courses seem to just tick a box and go through the motions. Train the painter offers delegates real hands-on training and the ability to learn and grow when aiming for the gold certification.”
How will offering Train the painter support your training centre’s growth?
“We are an established training centre and with the addition of these courses it will allow us to expand and deliver first-class training across a broader spectrum and encourage growth in an ever-changing industry.”
Which Train the painter courses are you planning to deliver?
“We will be planning to deliver bronze, silver, gold, and Coating Supervisor for the time being and look to expand the courses after we build up the brand.”
What impact do you believe Train the painter will have on the industry?
“I believe if done correctly, Train the painter gives delegates the relevant knowledge and practical skills to do the job right. Too many times we have seen the coatings industry flooded with inexperience and inadequate training, leading to millions of pounds wasted on incorrectly applied products. Train the painter is the way to resolve this issue.”
