Student of the month: Sinan Icik
This month, we are delighted to recognise Sinan Icik as our Student of the Month following his excellent progress from ICorr Level 1 and his continued studies towards the Diploma programme.
Currently working as a QA/QC Manager for Kyiv Bridge Projects in Ukraine, Sinan plays a key role in maintaining coating quality standards across major infrastructure projects. Working closely with steel fabricators and coating contractors, he has been able to apply his training directly within the industry.
For Sinan, the decision to study with Corrodere Academy was part of a much bigger ambition.
“I had been planning for a long time to become certified by the esteemed Institute of Corrosion and Corrodere Academy as a coating inspector. My main goal in the coating industry is to become a corrosion engineer. This was my biggest inspiration.”
He explained that becoming part of the Corrodere Academy community felt like the natural next step in achieving that goal.
“I believe the best way to achieve this is to become part of the Corrodere Academy family.”
Sinan says his current role has also allowed him to connect more closely with industry professionals working within coatings and corrosion protection.
“Cairnhill is our steel fabricator, and Possilpark and FI Coatings are their paint contractors. I am speaking the same coating language with them in terms of coating discipline. This is also an important professional growth opportunity for me.”
Now progressing through the Diploma programme, Sinan is enjoying the opportunity to deepen his technical knowledge and broaden his expertise within the sector.
“The diploma programme is a great chance for me to learn in depth about paint chemistry, paint material testing, and corrosion basics.”
His learning journey doesn’t stop there. Sinan hopes to continue expanding his specialist knowledge through future cathodic protection studies.
“I am a quality professional, and for me, training and learning are never-ending processes.”
Looking ahead, Sinan hopes his growing expertise will allow him to make a wider contribution to the industry.
“I believe that in the future I can also contribute to paint technologies and corrosion control management.”
When asked what he would say to others considering studying with Corrodere Academy, his answer was clear:
“I would definitely recommend others to join the Corrodere Academy family in order to gain deep knowledge in coating and corrosion management.”
Congratulations once again to Sinan on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to supporting him throughout the next stage of his professional journey.
